BC Centre of Excellence
The B.C.Centre of Excellence has quickly become one of the premier figure skating training facilities in Canada. Located in the heart of Greater Vancouver at Canlan Ice Sports - Burnaby 8 Rinks, the B.C. Centre of Excellence offers figure skaters the opportunity to train under a proven success formula and within a world class environment under the direction of World & Olympic Team Coach, Joanne McLeod. The B.C. Centre of Excellence formula is unique in the country as it encompasses a mulititude of development systems that are geared towards the success of the participants.
The Centre of Excellence is a multi-discipline training centre which has programs including Elite competitive skating, Learn To Skate as well as competitive dance and pairs. We invite ISU countries to come train with us and/or set up their own training camp within the Centre of Excellence training centre.
From the Marc Lebel training harness to the pristine ice conditions, the Centre of Excellence provides skaters with all the right tools to develop their Singles and Ice Dance skills in a state-of-the-art facility. The NHL sized ice surface, measuring 200 x 85, encompasses an updated Bose sound system, dedicated coaches room, on-site administration office, all complimented by a beautiful oil acrylic painting bringing the richness of an artistic aura to the Centre. Just steps away is the Performance Institute where exercise physiologist Steve Ramsbottom provides quality strength and conditioning programs specifically designed for figure skating development. Spectators are also given an overhead view of the action through the heated and comfortable viewing area located at the south end of the rink.
Year-round Ice Memberships available:
1. September – May: Fall / Winter / Spring Term
2. May (end) – June: Pre Season Term
3. June (end) – Aug: Summer Term
4. Aug (end): Seminar Camps and Buy-on ice
